Lemon Almond Breakfast Twists
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup almond flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons softened butter
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon almond extract
Zest of 1 lemon
1 beaten egg
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet.
2. Mix almond flour, sugar, butter, egg yolk, almond extract, and lemon zest.
3. Spread filling over half of the puff pastry.
4. Fold pastry over and cut into strips.
5. Twist each strip and place on baking sheet.
6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired.
7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden.
8. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled twists.
Notes
Keep puff pastry cold for the flakiest results.
Do not overfill the pastry.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
