Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 medium apples with peel (diced)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 cups of sugar (or 1 1/2 for less sweet)
  • 3 heaped tablespoons of butter ( 75 g )
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • Sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the apples into cubes and sprinkle them with lemon juice. Set aside.
  2. Beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is creamy.
  3. Add the melted butter and mix well.
  4. Incorporate the sifted flour with the cinnamon and baking powder, mixing gently.
  5. Grease a baking dish with butter, place the apples at the bottom and pour the batter on top.
  6. Bake at 180°C for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool before unmolding and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon if desired.

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tangy touch.
  • You can add nuts or raisins for more texture.
  • Avoid opening the oven during the first 30 minutes so that it doesn’t sink.
