Guava, Hibiscus & Bay Leaf Drink
This is a popular homemade herbal drink made with guava, dried hibiscus (roselle), and bay leaves. Many people enjoy it as a refreshing tea-style beverage.
Important note:
No single fruit or drink can “eliminate all diseases,” cure diabetes, high blood pressure, poor circulation, or cancer. These are serious medical conditions that require proper diagnosis and treatment from a doctor. This recipe is shared only as a traditional-style drink, not as a medical treatment.
Ingredients (Makes 4–5 cups)
- 2–3 ripe pink guavas, washed and sliced (you can leave the skin on)
- 8–10 dried hibiscus flowers (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus)
- 4–5 dried bay leaves
- 5–6 cups water
- Honey, stevia, or sugar to taste (optional)
- A squeeze of lemon or lime (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients
Wash the guavas and slice them. No need to peel if you like a stronger flavor. - Boil
In a pot, add the water, sliced guavas, hibiscus flowers, and bay leaves.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes. - Steep
Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let it steep for another 10 minutes so the flavors develop. - Strain
Strain the liquid into a jug or glasses. Press the guava pieces gently to extract more juice if you like. - Sweeten & Serve
Add honey or your preferred sweetener while the drink is still warm.
You can serve it hot like tea, or let it cool and drink it chilled over ice.
Tips
- For a stronger color and tartness, use more hibiscus.
- Guava gives natural sweetness and body to the drink.
- Bay leaves add a mild aromatic note — don’t overdo them.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Enjoy it as a refreshing herbal drink, but please remember it is not a substitute for medical care.
