Ingredients

For the chocolate base

  • 500 g 500 g cookies (your choice) Choose your favorite type, or mix and match for different flavors.
  • 120 g 120 g peanuts You can also use other nuts, such as almonds or hazelnuts, for a unique twist.
  • 250 ml 250 ml milk You may use a non-dairy alternative for vegan options.
  • 120 g 120 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 3 tablespoons 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 150 g 150 g butter Use vegan butter for a dairy-free version.

For the glaze

  • 80 g 80 g chocolate (dark or milk, based on preference) Use dairy-free chocolate for a vegan-friendly treat.
  • 20 ml 20 ml vegetable oil

Method

Preparation

  1. Start by placing the cookies and peanuts into a food processor. Blend them until finely crushed. The texture should resemble breadcrumbs for a smooth consistency in the final chocolates.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, vanilla sugar, cocoa powder, and butter. Heat over medium heat while stirring until the mixture is well combined and the butter is completely melted. Take care not to let it boil.
  3. Once combined, add the crushed cookie and peanut mixture to the saucepan. Mix everything thoroughly until evenly combined. This step is crucial as it creates the chocolate base.
  4. Pour the mixture into heart-shaped molds. Gently press it down to ensure it’s compact, and then refrigerate until set, which will take about 1-2 hours.

Glaze Preparation

  1. While the chocolates are setting, melt the chocolate with the vegetable oil in a microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Stir until glossy.

Assembly

  1. Once the chocolates are firm, carefully remove them from the molds. Drizzle the melted chocolate glaze over each piece. Let them cool in the refrigerator again for a bit to help the glaze set.
  2. After the glaze has hardened, your heart-shaped chocolates are ready to enjoy!

Notes

Pro Tips: Let the butter melt fully in step 2 to avoid any chunks, ensuring a smooth chocolate mix. If you prefer a thicker chocolate layer, you can double the amount of glaze ingredients. Common mistakes include overheating the chocolate glaze, which can cause it to seize up. Not crushing the cookies finely enough can result in a chunky texture, so make sure they are finely blended. Variations include adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the chocolate drizzle for a sweet and savory twist or incorporating dried fruit or shredded coconut in the mixture.
