Ingredients

Vegetables
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced About 2 pounds or 900 g
  • 2 medium zucchinis, thinly sliced About 1 pound or 450 g
Creamy Base
  • 1 cup heavy cream 240 ml
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons butter 30 g
Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary Optional, for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, layer the sliced potatoes and zucchinis, seasoning with salt and pepper as you go.
  3. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layered vegetables, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top, creating a nice, cheesy layer.
  5. Dot the top with butter for added richness.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  3. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  4. Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired.

Notes

To prevent a watery dish, slice the vegetables thinly and consider salting them lightly for 10 minutes beforehand. Customize the cheese for added flavor, and try mixing in other vegetables.
