Easy Weekend Cookies: Buttery, Festive, and Healthy
Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- If you’re adding chocolate chips or nuts, fold them in gently at this point.
- Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Make sure your butter is at room temperature for a smoother dough. Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour to keep the cookies tender. Store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to maintain softness.
