4 Apples and 10 Minutes for this Delicious Apple Cake

  • 100 ml milk
  • 40 ml vegetable oil or melted butter for a richer flavor
  • 80 g all-purpose flour
  • 10 g baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest Adds a fresh burst of flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Prepare a 20 cm (8 inches) baking pan by lining it with baking paper and greasing it with butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually add the milk and vegetable oil, mixing well to combine.
  4. Sift the all-purpose flour and baking powder into the bowl, stirring gently until there are no lumps.
  5. Stir in the orange zest to the batter.
  6. Add the thinly sliced apples to the batter and fold them in gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top and pressing the apple slices down gently.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. If the cake starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with foil.
  3. Once baked, allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Let the batter sit for 5 minutes before pouring it into the pan to develop better structure. Experiment with adding cinnamon or nutmeg for a spiced variation.
