  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking

Mushroom Gravy

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 1/2 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently just until combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add patties and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned and mostly cooked through. Remove patties to a plate.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter. Add mushrooms and chopped onion. Cook 5–6 minutes until soft and lightly browned.
  • Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir well. Cook 1 minute to remove raw flour taste.
  • Slowly whisk in beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Return patties to the skillet. Spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer 8–10 minutes until thickened and patties are fully cooked.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
