This rum and raisin ice cream is a homemade, alcohol-free version of the classic dessert. With a creamy base and raisins soaked in fruit juice, it has a smooth texture and a balanced flavor. Perfect for enjoying with the family.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of raisins
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of apple or grape juice (rum substitute)
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  • Hydrate the raisins : Soak them in apple or grape juice for at least an hour.
  • Prepare the ice cream base : Beat the cream with sugar until it thickens slightly. Add the milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  • Add the raisins : Drain and add them to the mixture, stirring gently.
  • Freezing :
    • Using an ice cream maker : Pour in the mix and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Without an ice cream maker : Freeze and beat every 30-40 minutes for 3-4 hours to prevent ice crystals.
  • Serving : Let it rest for a few minutes before serving and decorate with more raisins or cinnamon.

Notes

  • For a creamier ice cream, use high-fat cream.
  • It can be sweetened with honey instead of sugar.
  • To intensify the flavor, soak the raisins overnight.
