Rice Pudding

A traditional, creamy, and comforting dessert made with rice, milk, sugar, and cinnamon. Perfect for sharing with family.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1 liter of whole milk
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 piece of lemon or orange peel (without the white part)
  • 1 cup of sugar (adjustable to taste)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)

 


Instructions

  1. Place the rice, water, cinnamon stick, and peel in a large pot.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the rice has absorbed almost all the water (about 10 minutes).
  3. Add the hot milk gradually, stirring constantly.
  4. Cook over medium-low heat for 25–30 minutes until thickened and the rice is tender.
  5. Stir in the sugar, salt, and vanilla. Cook for another 5–10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve hot, warm, or cold. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon to taste.

Notes

  • You can use plant-based milk for a lactose-free version.
  • Short grain rice gives a creamier texture.
  • Avoid stopping stirring so it doesn’t stick.
  • The recipe can be adjusted for sweetness and aroma.
