Ingredients

Ribs

  • 2 –3 lbs 900–1,350g pork baby back ribs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

BBQ Sauce (Homemade or Store-Bought)

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Optional: a few dashes of hot sauce for heat

Instructions

  • Prep the Ribs
  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Remove the silver skin/membrane from the back of the ribs (optional, but helps tenderness).
  • Rub the ribs evenly with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Wrap & Bake
  • Place ribs on a large sheet of aluminum foil, meat side up.
  • Wrap tightly to form a sealed packet.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 2–2.5 hours until the meat is tender and pulls slightly from the bone.
  • Make the BBQ Sauce
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all BBQ sauce ingredients.
  • Stir until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is smooth.
  • Simmer 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • Broil for Finish
  • Carefully unwrap the ribs and brush a generous layer of BBQ sauce over the meat.
  • Preheat your oven’s broiler or set to 425°F (220°C).
  • Broil or bake for 5–10 minutes, watching closely, until the sauce caramelizes and is sticky.
