Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 26 cm round baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and slightly fluffy.
  3. Gradually mix in the vegetable oil and milk until fully combined.
  4. Sift the flour with the baking powder into the batter, folding it in two additions until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Pour one-third of the batter into a separate bowl and mix it with the cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour the plain batter into the prepared baking dish.
  2. Spoon the cocoa mixture on top of the plain batter.
  3. Use a knife to gently swirl the two mixtures together, creating a marble effect.
  4. Sprinkle with chocolate chips according to your taste.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool before slicing.

Notes

For an extra moist cake, wrap leftovers tightly and store at room temperature. Add a splash of milk to the cocoa mixture if needed.
