Hobo Dinner Foil Packets

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef or turkey/chicken
  • 4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers sliced (optional)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar or mozzarella, optional
  • Fresh parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat
  • Oven: 200°C (400°F)
  • OR preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Prepare the Packets
  • Cut 4 large sheets of aluminum foil.
  • Lightly grease each with oil or butter.
  • Build the Layers
  • For each packet:
  • Add a layer of potatoes and carrots.
  • Top with a portion of ground beef (shaped into a patty or crumbled).
  • Add onions and bell peppers.
  • Drizzle with olive oil.
  • Season evenly with garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Seal the Packets
  • Fold the foil tightly into sealed packets.
  • Leave a little space inside for steam circulation.
  • Cook
  • Oven:
  • Place packets on a baking tray.
  • Bake for 35–45 minutes until potatoes are tender and meat is fully cooked.
  • Grill / Campfire:
  • Cook over medium heat for 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Finish & Serve
  • Carefully open packets (watch out for steam).
  • Sprinkle with cheese and let it melt for 1–2 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
