(With the Secret Ingredient)
🧾 Ingredients (Makes 1 sandwich)
-
2 slices good-quality bread (sourdough or thick white bread works best)
-
2 slices cheese (cheddar, American, Gruyère, or a mix)
-
1–2 tablespoons butter, softened
-
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce ⭐ (the secret ingredient!)
-
Optional extras:
-
Garlic powder (a pinch)
-
Dried herbs or parsley (for topping)
-
Black pepper
-
🔥 Instructions
-
Prepare the bread
Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. These buttered sides will face the pan. -
Add the secret ingredient
Lightly sprinkle or brush ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce onto the inside (unbuttered side) of one slice of bread.
👉 Don’t overdo it — a little goes a long way and adds deep, savory umami flavor. -
Assemble the sandwich
Place cheese slices on top of the Worcestershire-coated bread.
Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out. -
Grill to perfection
Heat a skillet or pan over medium-low heat.
Place the sandwich in the pan and cook slowly for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula. -
Flip carefully
Once the bottom is golden brown and crispy, flip and cook the other side until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is deeply toasted. -
Finish & serve
Remove from the pan. Sprinkle with herbs or a pinch of black pepper if desired.
Slice in half and serve hot.
