Guilt-Free Chocolate Banana Oat Dessert
Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease the baking pan with oil or butter to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, combine the oat flakes with the hot milk. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soften.
- While the oats are soaking, prepare your bananas by mashing them in a separate bowl until smooth.
Mixing
- To the soaked oats, add the mashed bananas, eggs, vanillin, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on the timing, as overbaking can lead to a drier texture.
- While the dessert bakes, melt the dark chocolate with the boiling milk in a saucepan or microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Once the dessert is done, remove it from the oven and drizzle the melted chocolate over the top. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing into squares.
Notes
For a crispier top, consider broiling the dessert for the last 2 minutes of baking; just keep a close eye to avoid burning. Letting the dessert cool for about 5 minutes before cutting helps it hold its shape better. If the batter feels too thick, a splash of extra milk can help loosen it.
