- 2 ½ cups 315g all-purpose flour
- 1 cup 226g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ½ cup 100g granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 –8 tablespoons ice water
- For the Apple Filling
- 5 cups about 5–6 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- ¾ cup 150g brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional Glaze
- 1 cup 120g powdered sugar
- 1 –2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare the Crust

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.

Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until dough comes together.

Divide dough in half. Press one half evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Chill remaining dough in refrigerator while preparing filling.

Make the Apple Filling

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
