Ingredients
Base Layer
- 1 box 15.25 oz / 432g yellow cake mix
- ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, melted
- 1Â large egg
Creamy Top Layer
- 8 oz 225g cream cheese, softened
- 2Â large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, melted
- 3 ½ to 4 cups 420–480g powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- Make the Base
- In a bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and egg.
- Mix until a thick dough forms.
- Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Prepare the Creamy Layer
- Beat the cream cheese until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla; mix until fully combined.
- Slowly mix in melted butter.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth and creamy.
- Assemble
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the base.
- Spread gently to cover evenly.
- Bake
- Bake for 40–45 minutes.
- The center should still be slightly soft and jiggly — do not overbake.
- Cool & Slice
- Allow bars to cool completely before cutting.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
