This rum and raisin ice cream is a homemade, alcohol-free version of the classic dessert. With a creamy base and raisins soaked in fruit juice, it has a smooth texture and a balanced flavor. Perfect for enjoying with the family.
Ingredients
- ½ cup of raisins
- 1Â cup of whole milk
- ¾ cup of sugar
- ½ cup of apple or grape juice (rum substitute)
- 2Â cups of heavy cream
- 1Â teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Hydrate the raisins : Soak them in apple or grape juice for at least an hour.
- Prepare the ice cream base : Beat the cream with sugar until it thickens slightly. Add the milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Add the raisins : Drain and add them to the mixture, stirring gently.
- Freezing :
- Using an ice cream maker : Pour in the mix and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Without an ice cream maker : Freeze and beat every 30-40 minutes for 3-4 hours to prevent ice crystals.
- Serving : Let it rest for a few minutes before serving and decorate with more raisins or cinnamon.
Notes
- For a creamier ice cream, use high-fat cream.
- It can be sweetened with honey instead of sugar.
- To intensify the flavor, soak the raisins overnight.
