Cheesy Beef Taco Pie

Ingredients

Meat Filling

  • 1 lb 450g ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 packet 2–3 tbsp taco seasoning or homemade blend
  • ½ cup 120ml water
  • 1 cup salsa medium or mild
  • 1 cup canned corn drained (optional)
  • ½ cup black beans drained and rinsed (optional)

Crust Layer

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust 9-inch
  • or 1 cup crushed tortilla chips pressed into the base for a crunchy option

Topping

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella optional for extra melt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven
  • Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Prepare the Crust
  • Press pie crust into the dish and trim edges.
  • Pre-bake for 8 minutes, then remove and set aside.
  • (Skip pre-bake if using crushed chips.)
  • Cook the Beef
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Add onion and garlic; cook 2–3 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  • Add salsa, corn, and black beans if using.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Assemble the Pie
  • Spread beef mixture evenly into the crust.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  • Add Egg Mixture
  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour gently over the cheese layer.
  • Bake
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, until center is set and top is golden.
  • If edges brown too quickly, loosely cover with foil.
