Ingredients

For the apples
  • 2 pieces apples, sliced Firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are recommended.
  • 10 g melted butter Used for greasing the air fryer basket.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Plus extra for sprinkling on top.
  • 150 g sugar Plus extra for sprinkling on the apples.
For the batter
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • a pinch salt
  • 100 g melted butter Remaining amount used in the cake batter.
  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder Equivalent to 1 1/2 tsp.
  • icing sugar for dusting For the final touch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and brush it with 10 g of melted butter.
  2. Arrange the sliced apples in an even layer in the air fryer basket, then sprinkle with a little cinnamon and sugar.
Cooking the apples
  1. Air fry the apples at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes until they are slightly softened.
Batter preparation
  1. While the apples are cooking, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt until frothy.
  2. Add 150 g of sugar to the eggs and whisk until the mixture is light and creamy.
  3. Mix in the remaining 100 g of melted butter.
  4. Fold in the flour until no dry spots remain.
  5. Add 1 tsp of cinnamon and the baking powder, mixing until smooth.
Final assembly and cooking
  1. Once the apples are done, pour the batter evenly over the apples to fully cover them.
  2. Return the basket to the air fryer and bake at 160°C (320°F) for about 25 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow it to cool slightly, then invert onto a board, remove the parchment, and dust with icing sugar before slicing.

Notes

Enjoy warm, served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for a couple of days.
