  • 1/4 cup 60 g sour cream (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tsp salt plus extra to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder optional
  • Fresh parsley optional garnish

Instructions

Prep the potatoes

  • Wash, peel, and cut potatoes into evenly sized chunks (about 1–2 inches).

Boil

  • Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  • Add 1 tsp salt.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 15–20 minutes).

Drain and dry

  • Drain the potatoes well.
  • Return them to the hot pot for 1–2 minutes to evaporate extra moisture.

Mash
